Net Return Home vs Pro: Do the Extra Width and Height Fit Your Room?

Compare the standard Home and Pro nets by outside dimensions, setup footprint, accessories and the route to storage.

The standard Net Return Pro is one foot wider and six inches taller than the Home, while both have the same listed 3-foot-6-inch frame depth. Choose the Pro when the larger frame and intended coverage suit the room; choose the Home when its smaller assembled size better fits a workable practice layout.

“Pro” here means the standard Pro model. The Pro 8, Pro 9, Pro 10 and Pro XL have different dimensions. Check the complete model name on the order rather than applying this table to every net with Pro in its name.

Compare the exact models

Outside frame measurement Home Standard Pro
Width 7 ft 8 ft
Height 7 ft 7 ft 6 in
Depth 3 ft 6 in 3 ft 6 in
Width × depth rectangle 24.5 sq ft 28 sq ft
Width × height rectangle 49 sq ft 60 sq ft

The calculated rectangles describe the outside dimensions. They are not a promise of usable impact area, safe shot coverage or required total room size. The player's hitting position, net deflection and protection around the net need additional consideration.

What the larger size buys

The Pro's outside width is about 14.3% greater and its height about 7.1% greater. Its width-by-height rectangle is approximately 22.4% larger. That increase can be useful, but it does not make every shot that misses the Home safely catchable by the Pro.

Consider your likely misses, including sideways starts and lofted shots. Identify windows, walls, vehicles and people outside the net's protected area. Select the appropriate side protection and layout according to the manufacturer's instructions.

The Net Return says its net models use the same quality of materials and differ in size. Do not infer an independently verified durability or ball-speed advantage merely from the Pro name.

A ten-foot-wide room example

A ten-foot room is 120 inches wide. Centering the Home's 84-inch frame leaves 36 inches in total, or 18 inches on each side. Centering the Pro's 96-inch frame leaves 24 inches, or 12 inches on each side.

Those residual spaces are not recommended safety clearances. They simply show what remains before accounting for side barriers, net movement, furniture and access. A side barrier can require more floor area than the bare frame suggests.

Put the hitting mat and intended tee position on the same sketch. Then check the full swing of every intended player. Being able to assemble an eight-foot net in the room does not establish that the room is suitable for swinging a driver.

Plan setup and storage separately

If the net stays assembled, check the complete footprint and the ability to inspect or service the net behind the frame. If it must be put away, check the breakdown routine, bag storage and the route from the practice area to storage.

For occasional practice, a smaller net that fits the routine may be used more consistently than a larger one that makes every session difficult to set up. For a dedicated bay, the larger standard Pro can be a sensible use of available space.

Do not assume an assembled frame fits through a doorway because the dismantled package was delivered through it. Measure the route and plan which parts have to be removed.

Compare accessory scope before price

List the net and frame, side barriers, landing or return surface, hitting mat and any simulator screen attachment separately. A product photograph may show a complete practice setup while the selected item supplies only part of it.

Check that accessories match the exact Home or Pro size. A screen or replacement net designed for a different frame is not interchangeable just because it comes from the same brand. If projection is your goal, confirm the supported screen attachment rather than projecting onto ordinary practice netting.

Choose the Net Return Home when its dimensions and the full protection plan fit your room. Choose the Net Return Pro when the extra foot of width and six inches of height are useful and all required space remains available. In either case, order the complete practice system you measured, not the frame size alone.
