Plan a Permanent Bay with an Overhead Launch Monitor

Map the sensor position and hitting zone

Overhead monitors do not all mount in the same place. Some are positioned ahead of the ball, while others use a rear overhead location. Follow the exact model’s installation diagram, measuring height from the relevant playing surface and checking clearance for the enclosure and projector.

Plan for every player

Keeping tracking hardware off the floor can help a shared left- and right-handed bay, but room width and ball placement still determine the experience. Compare the usable hitting zone, calibration process and required ball or club markings. Confirm software rights and a compatible computer before installing the mount.

Use the finished floor as the height reference

Complete the mat and floor-height plan before transferring a mounting measurement into the room. The device’s instructions define the reference point and the required offset from the ball. Changing the hitting surface after installation can change that relationship. Check that ceiling fixtures, enclosure framing and projector hardware leave the specified tracking position available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use any ceiling height with an overhead monitor?

No. Each model specifies an installation range and position. Measure the room and hitting-surface height before choosing the unit.

Do overhead launch monitors all work without stickers?

No. Requirements vary by system and by the data being captured. Check the exact ball and club tracking instructions.

Will an overhead monitor automatically accommodate both handednesses?

The system’s supported hitting zone and your room layout must both work. Check the model’s requirements and provide enough swing clearance for each player.
