Carl's Place DIY and the SIG10 can both form the center of a home golf simulator, but they take different approaches to the enclosure purchase. Carl's offers a configurable kit with size choices and optional framing pipes. SIG10 provides a defined enclosure size with its push-pin frame components included.
Instead of choosing by brand alone, compare the Carl's Place DIY kit and SIG10 enclosure using your room dimensions and an itemized list of what you need.
Start with fit, before features
The Indoor Golf Shop lists the SIG10's outside dimensions as 10 feet 10 inches wide, 8 feet 4 inches high, and 5 feet deep. Its screen is listed at 10 feet 1 inch wide by 7 feet 7 inches high. Those are enclosure and screen measurements not a guarantee that a room of the same size accommodates your swing.
Carl's DIY offers a choice of sizes. Select the actual configuration first, then compare its overall dimensions and clearances with SIG10. A nominal ten-foot screen or kit name is not enough information for a like-for-like fit comparison.

Understand the framing difference
The Carl's DIY kit uses 1-inch EMT pipes. The linked kit does not include those pipes unless you add the appropriate framing option. You can choose the matching pre-cut kit or source the specified material using the enclosure's cut list.
SIG10 lists push-pin poles and connectors among its included components. That gives you a different purchasing and assembly workflow. It does not mean every accessory, projector mount, or piece of surrounding flooring is included.
| Question | Carl's DIY | SIG10 |
|---|---|---|
| Which dimensions apply? | The selected kit size | The defined SIG10 frame and screen dimensions |
| How is the frame completed? | Correct EMT pipes, purchased separately or as the matching kit | Included push-pin poles and connectors |
| How should price be compared? | Include pipes and selected accessories | Confirm included parts and remaining additions |
| How is projector fit checked? | Use the selected screen's usable image area | Use the SIG10 screen's usable image area |
Screen quality must be compared at the selected option
Do not compare one enclosure's entry screen option with another's upgraded screen and assume the difference comes entirely from the frame. Note the material selected, attachment system, and care requirements on each listing.
A screen's appearance also depends on focus, lighting, tension, and the image you feed it. A statement that an enclosure fills the screen should not be mistaken for a promise that every projector and aspect-ratio setting will fill it automatically.
Check the visible screen format with your projector and software before placing the order. Our golf simulator projectors need to be matched to the enclosure, not selected independently afterward.
Build a complete parts list
For each option, list the enclosure, selected screen, frame, padding, side protection, hitting mat, surrounding surface, and any required mounting accessories. Mark each item as included, optional, already owned, or still needed.
For Carl's, the DIY framing kit belongs on that checklist unless you are sourcing the pipes. For both systems, review side nets and barrier netting against the actual risk areas in the room. Side protection is not one-size-fits-all.
Think about assembly and future changes
Consider where you will assemble the frame and how you will access the back and sides. A finished enclosure that appears to fit tightly between two walls may leave insufficient working room for installation or maintenance.
Also consider what happens when you replace the screen later. Record the exact enclosure model, generation, and size. Replacement parts should be matched to that information rather than to a rough width measurement or a photograph.
Neither system should be treated as universally expandable. Before planning a future change in width or depth, establish which components would need replacement.
Which approach fits you?
Carl's DIY is worth shortlisting when a particular size fits the room and you are comfortable choosing the framing and accessories. SIG10 is worth shortlisting when its fixed dimensions work and you prefer the included push-pin frame arrangement.
A better value decision comes from comparing complete, compatible configurations. A cheaper incomplete list is not the same as a lower-cost finished room.
To compare the complete purchase, build a Carl’s DIY or SIG10 setup in the Simulator Builder. Check the separate pipe requirement for the selected Carl’s kit and keep the monitor, projector and mat assumptions consistent between your options.
Frequently asked questions
Will an eight-foot-four-inch ceiling be enough for SIG10?
That is the enclosure's listed height, not a full-room recommendation. You need assembly clearance and adequate swing clearance above the finished mat.
Does DIY mean making the screen yourself?
No. The kit includes an impact-screen option; the frame requires the appropriate pipes and assembly.
Can I buy any projector mount for either frame?
Check the mount's attachment method, supported structure, projector compatibility, and lens location.
