HomeCourse retractable screen deployed in an indoor golf room

HomeCourse vs G-TRAK: Choosing a Retractable Golf Simulator Screen

Compare retractable systems by mounting interface, deployed protection and what remains in the garage after the screen rolls up.

The HomeCourse ProScreen 180 and G-TRAK solve a similar storage problem with different mounting and screen arrangements. Choose by what the room can support and how the complete simulator stores away, not just by the fact that the screen retracts.

A retractable screen does not make the mat, computer, projector and launch monitor disappear. For a garage that must also hold a vehicle, those remaining items often decide whether the setup is convenient enough to use regularly.

Start with the mounting interface

Question HomeCourse ProScreen 180 G-TRAK impact-screen system
Basic installation approach Ceiling mount; wall or rack options depend on chosen accessories Garage-track mounting arrangement; wall option depends on accessories
Screen arrangement Central screen with configurable Pro Arms Screen within the selected retractable system and netting arrangement
Critical measurement Mount height, arm position and deployed clearance Outside track width, mounting fit and selected screen size
Extra purchase to check Wall mount or Pro Rack, if needed Wall mounting and exact system configuration, if needed

Use the instructions for the exact system. Garage-door tracks and surrounding structure are not all identical, so a general product description should not replace a fit check for your door hardware.

HomeCourse: the arm position changes the useful shape

The HomeCourse ProScreen 180 has a central screen and arms that can be positioned to provide side coverage or a wider projectable arrangement. Our listing describes an eight-foot central screen and an overall fully extended width of 13 feet 8 inches in the diagram.

Do not assume the widest extended arrangement provides the same side containment as arms positioned forward. Decide how the screen will be used, then measure the resulting visible image area and side protection. Set the projector for that chosen configuration.

The selected mounting method also matters. Check whether the ceiling mount, wall accessory or rack is included in your order. Follow the required clearances and mounting height so the screen reaches the floor with the intended slack.

G-TRAK: measure the track, not only the door opening

For G-TRAK Screen, the outside edges of the garage tracks are a key sizing measurement. A door advertised as a certain width does not supply every dimension needed to choose and mount the system.

Record the track arrangement, ceiling obstructions and the path of the door and opener. Confirm the selected mounting configuration against the current assembly guide. If the room is not a suitable garage-track installation, assess the approved wall option separately.

Also distinguish the G-TRAK Net from the impact-screen product. A practice net and a projection screen are different purchases even when they share a retractable-system family name.

Make two room drawings

Draw the room once with the simulator deployed and once with everything stored. In the deployed drawing, include the screen plane, ball position, swing envelope, side containment, projector beam and monitor requirements.

In the stored drawing, include the rolled screen housing, parked vehicle, door movement, mat storage and cable routes. An overhead monitor may remain installed, while a floor monitor may need a secure storage location. Neither arrangement should be assumed to clear the door or vehicle without measurement.

This two-state check catches a common mistake: a simulator that fits for golf but leaves a mat, floor enclosure or cable across the space needed for everyday parking.

Plan repeatable setup

If the hitting mat moves between sessions, create a repeatable positioning method consistent with the equipment instructions. The ball location, monitor alignment and screen direction need to return to the planned relationship.

Treat setup and teardown as part of the purchase decision. A heavier mat may be comfortable to play from but awkward to store. A laptop may be easier to move than a desktop, but it must still meet software requirements and connect reliably. Choose the workflow you are willing to repeat.

Check the projection separately

The screen's movement does not alter a projector's lens range. Calculate the image at the deployed screen plane and selected aspect ratio. Check that the projector clears the swing and garage hardware, and that its beam is not blocked by the player.

Do not select a projector solely from the maximum width advertised for the retractable system. Use the visible area in the actual arm or netting configuration, then verify the throw distance and vertical alignment.

Which system should you shortlist?

Shortlist HomeCourse when its central-screen and arm arrangement, mounting options and stored profile fit the room. Shortlist G-TRAK when its specified garage-track or approved wall installation matches your space and the selected screen configuration provides the coverage you need.

For either system, request the complete included-items list and the current mounting guide before ordering. The better purchase is the one that works in both room states with a repeatable setup routine.

Plan your next step

Compare HomeCourse ProScreen 180 and G-TRAK Screen, then check the projector position with the simulator calculator.
