SIGPRO simulator flooring extending from the screen to the hitting area

SIGPRO Flooring vs a Custom Turf Floor: Measure the Whole Footprint

Compare a pre-sized simulator floor with a custom build using actual footprint, finished height, hitting position and replacement access.

The SIGPRO flooring system is a defined floor layout; a custom turf floor is a project you design around the room. Neither should be chosen by the screen width alone. The floor can be wider and much deeper than the enclosure standing above it.

Before ordering, draw the entire floor footprint, the hitting point and the route into the room. Then compare the finished height with the launch monitor's mounting requirements and the golfer's available headroom.

SIGPRO flooring and enclosure dimensions are different

Flooring version Listed width Listed depth Listed height
SIG8 9 ft 8 in 15 ft 6 in 2.375 in
SIG10 11 ft 7 in 15 ft 6 in 2.375 in
SIG12 13 ft 6 in 15 ft 6 in 2.375 in

These are the listed SIGPRO Flooring dimensions, not the enclosure dimensions. For example, the SIG10 enclosure is listed at 10 feet 10 inches wide, while the corresponding floor is 11 feet 7 inches wide. That is nine additional inches of overall floor width to accommodate.

The floor's 15-foot-6-inch depth also extends well beyond the five-foot enclosure depth. A room that fits the frame does not automatically fit the complete floor.

Raised flooring changes the usable ceiling height

The listed 2.375-inch floor buildup reduces the distance from the golfer's standing surface to the ceiling by the same amount. It also changes the height of the ball relative to a ceiling-mounted launch monitor.

For example, a bare-floor ceiling measurement of 108 inches becomes 105.625 inches above a 2.375-inch finished floor, before considering any other surface layers. That calculation does not establish swing safety or sensor compatibility; it identifies the correct reference for checking them.

Use finished-surface measurements when comparing the sensor's installation range. If a mat or insert changes the ball height within the floor, include that difference rather than treating every green surface as level by appearance.

Check the supplied hitting position

The SIGPRO flooring listing gives a center-of-hitting-strip-to-screen distance of 126 inches, or 10 feet 6 inches. Confirm how that position aligns with your chosen enclosure and monitor.

A predefined hitting location can simplify the layout if it matches the room. It can be a constraint if a beam, door or sensor requirement forces the tee elsewhere. Do not assume you can relocate an integrated hitting area without changing the system's design.

For a mixed-handed room, check the stance and swing space on both sides of that position. The floor's outside dimensions do not guarantee that both players can use the same tee comfortably.

What a custom floor must include

A custom floor may combine a hitting mat or replaceable strip, putting turf, a landing area and a suitable base. List each layer with its thickness and intended function.

Zone Design question
Stance area Is it stable and level at the intended finished height?
Hitting area Is the material designed for club impact and replaceable?
Landing area How does it meet the screen and manage returned balls?
Putting area What base, grain direction and cup arrangement are required?
Perimeter How are edges, transitions and access handled?

Money Putt Turf or NP50 Turf can be considered for a putting surface, but neither product name alone supplies the complete base, cup depth or hitting area. Price those components separately.

Keep wear parts replaceable

The strike area will generally experience a different pattern of wear from the rest of the floor. Determine how its insert can be removed and which replacement part fits.

With a custom design, avoid trapping a replaceable strip beneath permanent edges or making the base inaccessible. With a pre-sized system, follow the intended assembly and replacement method. Record the exact insert model with the simulator's documentation.

Also keep access to cables and floor-level connections where needed. A visually seamless surface is less useful if a routine cable replacement requires destroying the installation.

Compare the completed scope

For SIGPRO flooring, confirm the exact size, supplied hitting strip, putting arrangement and compatibility with the selected enclosure. For a custom floor, include turf, underlayment or platform, cutting, cup installation, adhesives where specified and edge finishing.

Do not compare a finished flooring system's price with only the raw turf cost. Conversely, do not assume a pre-sized system is the best use of space if the room needs an unusual layout.

Choose the predefined system when its footprint and hitting point fit cleanly. Choose a custom approach when the room requires control over those dimensions and you are prepared to specify every layer. In either case, verify the sensor and swing clearances from the finished surface before buying.
