Find out whether the interruption is at the projector input, computer output or HDMI cable before changing your simulator settings.
First test: can you see the projector’s own menu?
Open the projector menu with its remote. If the menu appears clearly, the projector can create an image; focus on the incoming video signal. If neither the menu nor an internal test pattern appears, check power, any lens cover or shutter, picture-mute mode and indicator lights using the model manual. An error light should be recorded, not treated as a reason to keep power-cycling the unit.
Trace one video path
- Read the label beside the connected input and select that same input on the projector. “HDMI 1” and “HDMI 2” are different inputs.
- Wake the computer and confirm it is running on its own screen or a known working monitor.
- Check the PC’s display settings. The projector must be enabled as an active display. On a desktop with a dedicated graphics card, use the intended graphics-card output; a motherboard connector may not provide a picture.
- If you use an adapter, splitter, wall plate or AV receiver, test a direct connection with a short, known working cable. Change one part at a time.
- For an active or optical HDMI cable, verify the ends marked “Source” and “Display.” A directional cable cannot be diagnosed by reversing ends at random.
- Test a timing listed as supported in the projector manual. If a lower resolution works but the desired mode fails, investigate cable bandwidth, adapters and supported refresh rates.
Use the result to choose the next step
| What you observe | What to investigate next |
|---|---|
| A short direct cable works; the installed run does not | The long cable, its direction, connectors or intermediate equipment. |
| A second source works on the same projector input | The original computer’s output or display configuration. |
| The desktop appears but the simulator does not | The simulator’s selected display or full-screen mode. |
| The picture disappears only at a higher resolution | The supported timing and bandwidth of the complete video path. |
| No internal menu and an error indicator | The model’s indicator-code guidance and manufacturer service. |
Avoid making the problem harder to diagnose
A launch monitor normally sends shot data; it is not the source of the computer’s HDMI image. Recalibrating it will not fix a missing desktop. Keep the working cable and display mode in place until you have a stable picture, then reconnect the simulator equipment.
If you need help, send the projector and PC models, input label, cable length, any adapters and the result of the direct-cable test. Do not send account passwords or software license keys.
