Choose the AH700ST for a golf-first 1080p system that benefits from BenQ’s automated screen setup. Consider the TK710STi when 4K output and mixed entertainment use are priorities and you will handle the golf-image setup yourself. Their similar lens range makes this a choice about the system around the projector, not simply which one fits closer to the screen.
This comparison evaluates published specifications. We have not conducted a side-by-side brightness, color or noise test.
The meaningful differences
| Buying factor | BenQ AH700ST | BenQ TK710STi |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1080p | 4K UHD |
| Rated brightness | 4,000 ANSI lumens | 3,200 ANSI lumens |
| Throw ratio | 0.69–0.83 | 0.69–0.83 |
| Optical zoom | 1.2× | 1.2× |
| Main purchase attraction | Golf-oriented automatic screen setup | 4K home-entertainment and gaming positioning |
| What still needs planning | Mount, source format, lighting and clear swing path | The same room checks, plus the desired golf-image format |
The lumen difference is 25% on the specification sheet: 4,000 divided by 3,200 equals 1.25. That is not a prediction of a 25% improvement in perceived image quality. Calibration mode, image size, screen material and ambient light affect the result.
Our AH700ST is listed at $2,299. We do not currently list the TK710STi as an active product, so this guide does not invent an Indoor Golf Kit price or purchase link for it. Obtain a current US quote for the exact TK710STi, including the intended warranty and seller terms.
What the shared lens range means
For a 10-foot-wide native 16:9 image, both models have an approximate optical placement range of 6.9–8.3 feet from lens to screen. A 7.5-foot lens position lies inside that range for either projector.
This removes one variable from the purchase: if the room supports that example, you do not need to select the TK710STi merely to gain a different throw range. It also does not prove that an existing mount can be reused. Chassis dimensions, lens position, fastening points and installation orientation still matter.
For a tall square image, calculate from the actual image pipeline. A 16:9 projector displaying a square within its raster has different active-image dimensions from a full-width native 16:9 presentation. Confirm the content format before drilling the mount.
Which source will actually provide the picture?
A 1080p-only source: the TK710STi can display the incoming picture, but it cannot recover native detail that the source never supplied. In this situation, the AH700ST’s golf setup convenience can be more relevant than the 4K label.
A PC running the simulator at 4K: the TK710STi has a clearer resolution-based reason to be on the shortlist. Confirm graphics performance at your desired course detail and output resolution. A Windows desktop set to 4K is not evidence that the simulator will maintain the performance you want.
Golf plus movies or gaming: list the non-golf sources and the image shape they use. A separate streaming device, console or receiver may introduce cable and audio requirements. The projector comparison should include those sources rather than assuming the launch monitor supplies every entertainment function.
How to value automatic screen setup
The AH700ST’s golf-oriented setup features are most useful when image alignment is a recurring chore or when a buyer wants a more guided installation. They do not eliminate the need for a correctly placed lens, sufficient clearance or a suitable screen.
For a permanent bay adjusted once and left alone, convenience has a different value. A buyer comfortable aligning the image manually may prefer to allocate more of the budget to resolution. For a shared space where the screen arrangement changes, setup convenience may be used repeatedly.
Write down your actual routine: how often does anything move, who resets it, and which sources are involved? If nothing moves, do not justify the purchase with a daily-reset benefit you will never use. If multiple family members operate the bay, do not assume they will enjoy a complicated alignment workflow.
A purchase worksheet for this exact pair
| Your answer | Direction it supports |
|---|---|
| My simulator outputs 1080p and that is my intended resolution | AH700ST |
| I have a capable 4K PC and want to use its extra image detail | TK710STi deserves consideration |
| I frequently adjust the screen arrangement | Give AH700ST setup features more weight |
| I want golf-specific setup and 4K together | Also price the AK700ST |
| My required lens position is about 5 feet from a 10-foot-wide native image | Neither of these lenses is the right starting point |
The fourth row points to the AK700ST, currently $2,899. Its $600 premium over the AH700ST is a relevant alternative if your goal combines 4K output with golf-oriented setup. Our separate AK700ST versus TK710STi guide covers that different comparison.
Final buying questions
Is the TK710STi automatically sharper for every golfer?
No. It offers higher display resolution, but the source, content, screen and viewing distance affect visible detail. A low-resolution source or poorly focused image can limit the benefit.
Does automatic setup guarantee a full screen with no unused pixels?
No. Image shaping and aspect-ratio conversion can leave part of the projector’s raster unused. Review the intended screen shape and source resolution rather than assuming automation changes the physical pixel array.
Can one projector be declared better in ambient light from the lumen number alone?
No. The AH700ST has the higher published output, but this is not a measured comparison under your lighting. Control light on the screen and evaluate the image size before treating rated lumens as the whole answer.
For a golf-focused 1080p purchase, review the AH700ST’s current configuration. For 4K with golf setup features, compare the AK700ST before assuming the TK710STi is the only upgrade route.
