For a 4K golf simulator, start with the available lens position. LK830ST and UHZ35ST belong to the very-close-placement shortlist. AK700ST offers a farther adjustable range. LK936ST and LG BU53RG add optical lens-shift options and higher rated brightness, with their own distance requirements.
This is a comparison of five 4K UHD options in our catalog. “Best” means the best fit for a stated room and workload; we have not tested these five under identical conditions or ranked them by measured picture quality.
Compare the lens before comparing the price
| Model | Rated brightness | Throw ratio | Main installation distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| BenQ LK830ST | 4,000 ANSI lumens | 0.496:1 | Close fixed-ratio placement |
| Optoma UHZ35ST | 3,500 lumens | 0.496:1 | Close fixed-ratio placement |
| BenQ AK700ST | 4,000 ANSI lumens | 0.69–0.83:1 | Adjustable range and automatic screen-fitting workflow |
| BenQ LK936ST | 5,100 ANSI lumens | 0.81–0.89:1 | Optical lens shift and a farther mounting range |
| LG ProBeam BU53RG | 5,000 ANSI lumens | 0.94–1.14:1 | Optical lens shift with the farthest range in this group |
Manufacturer brightness ratings are not a controlled cross-brand measurement in the same picture mode. Use them as planning specifications. Color mode, screen area and room light determine the image you actually see.
A twelve-foot-wide 16:9 image: five mounting envelopes
| Model | Approximate lens-to-screen distance |
|---|---|
| LK830ST | 5.95 ft |
| UHZ35ST | 5.95 ft |
| AK700ST | 8.28–9.96 ft |
| LK936ST | 9.72–10.68 ft |
| LG BU53RG | 11.28–13.68 ft |
These are calculated from image width multiplied by throw ratio. Use the exact projection calculator and manual before drilling. The table assumes a full 16:9 image and measures from the lens, not the back of the case.
A room with a viable lens location around six feet from the screen has a different shortlist from a room whose only mounting point is twelve feet back. A higher lumen rating cannot make the wrong lens range fit the same twelve-foot image.
BenQ LK830ST vs Optoma UHZ35ST
These are the closest optical comparison in the table because they share the published 0.496 ratio. Both merit consideration when a close mounting position is essential. Compare their full chassis geometry, offset, connection needs, warranty and current installed price.
LK830ST's rated output is higher, but the difference alone is not evidence of superior color, contrast or sharpness in your bay. If a demonstration is available, compare them at the same image size and intended picture settings rather than one in a bright presentation mode and the other in a cinema mode.
For a closer look at the BenQ option, read our LK830ST review for a close mounting position. Its worked examples separate the optical fit from the value of 4K detail and the demands of the source computer.
LG BU53RG vs BenQ LK936ST
Both offer optical lens shift, but their throw ranges differ materially. At the twelve-foot native image width above, LG starts around 11.28 feet while LK936ST reaches approximately 10.68 feet at its long end. Check that your proposed mounting point falls inside the chosen range.
Lens shift can help align an image around a ceiling constraint. It does not eliminate throw-distance requirements, and its horizontal and vertical limits should be checked together in the installation guide. Do not assume both maximum shifts are simultaneously available at every setup position.
AK700ST vs the other four
Against LK830ST or UHZ35ST, AK700ST changes the lens position and gives you an adjustable range. Against LK936ST or LG BU53RG, compare automatic fitting workflow with optical lens-shift needs and the actual available distance. Automatic image fitting is not a substitute for a physically suitable installation.

Make sure the rest of the system benefits from 4K
A 4K projector needs a compatible signal path and a computer capable of your desired software settings. The projector cannot add course detail that the computer is rendering at a lower resolution. Check the selected output mode, cable run and software settings as a single system.
Screen material and focus also matter. Before replacing a projector because the image looks soft, inspect focus across the screen, source resolution, digital correction and the screen surface. If the problem is direct daylight washing out the image, resolution is not the first fix.
If you are still deciding whether to upgrade at all, use the 1080p vs 4K buying guide. If 4K is already decided, send your visible image dimensions, possible lens positions, ceiling height and software/PC plan with two finalists from this list. That produces a useful quote and a mounting plan you can actually use.
