HomeCourse ProScreen 180 is worth considering when recovering the room between sessions is part of the purchase requirement. It is harder to justify on retraction alone in a room that can remain a golf bay permanently. Its value comes from how the whole room works before and after play, not just how quickly the screen moves.
This is a specification-based ownership review, not a hands-on endurance or retraction-speed test. Our ProScreen 180 is $2,299 at the checked date.
What the purchase does and what remains on the floor
The screen system includes the retractable enclosure, ceiling-mount kit, charging cable, remote and reach pole. A wall installation needs the appropriate additional wall-mount kit. A projector, monitor, computer and hitting mat are separate.
Retraction clears the deployed screen assembly according to its design. It does not automatically remove the mat, landing pad, side-net restraints, golf bag, PC stand or any floor-mounted projector. Those items determine whether the garage actually returns to parking or the room returns to exercise and family use.
Before ordering, make a two-column inventory: “stays in place” and “moves after every session.” Assign a storage location to every item in the second column. If the mat has nowhere to go, the remote-controlled screen has solved only part of the space problem.
Price the mounting route you will use
| Reference arrangement | Included purchases | Listed subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| Ceiling-supported screen | ProScreen 180; supplied ceiling kit | $2,299 |
| Wall-supported screen | ProScreen 180 + $125 Wall Mount Kit | $2,424 |
| Rack-supported screen | ProScreen 180 + $750 Pro Rack | $3,049 |
These are alternative arrangements, not three accessories everyone should buy together. Structural suitability, clearances and the current installation instructions govern the choice. The listed Pro Rack has a minimum height requirement of 8 feet 6 inches; that does not establish safe swing clearance for every golfer.
Adding the $250 landing pad and $199 side-netting set changes the ceiling-route equipment subtotal to $2,748. The landing pad is a 9 × 5-foot ball-landing surface, not a hitting mat. Price a separate surface designed for club strikes.
Review the wall kit, Pro Rack, landing pad and side netting against the intended layout rather than adding every accessory by default.
The premium is a room-use decision
An enclosure price comparison only becomes meaningful when you compare equivalent scope. A fixed frame may include different protective components or require different floor treatment. HomeCourse’s purchase case rests on whether a fixed bay would prevent another important use of the room.
Try this practical test before spending: tape out the playing area, place a mat-sized object where the hitting station would be, and walk through the daily storage routine. Include the garage door, car doors, cabinets and the route to the computer. If the routine is awkward before installation, a retracting screen alone is unlikely to make it effortless.
Do not invent a monetary “return” for the recovered space. Ask instead whether retraction makes regular practice possible in a room that would otherwise be unavailable. That is a concrete reason to choose the system even without a financial payback calculation.
Arm position changes the buying decision
The central screen is listed as 8 feet wide × 8 feet high. The arms can be arranged for forward side protection or extended outward for a wider projection configuration. The store’s dimension drawing gives 13 feet 8 inches overall extended width, while manufacturer marketing describes an approximately 14-foot-wide projection arrangement.
Those figures are not interchangeable guarantees of usable image width. Measure the usable surface in the chosen configuration, leave appropriate margins and plan side protection for that state. Extending the arms outward changes more than the shape of the picture.
Choose the arm arrangement before the projector. Our HomeCourse projector guide works through the consequences for lens distance and image shape.
Ownership details worth checking before payment
Charging access: a battery-powered screen still needs a charging routine. Confirm that the cable connection can be reached without improvising around a finished ceiling installation.
Service access: preserve access to the housing, mounts and screen path. A removable or retractable surface still needs inspection and eventual maintenance.
Wear and warranty: HomeCourse publishes a one-year manufacturer warranty with exclusions, including normal wear. The impact screen is a wear item. Do not read the warranty duration as a predicted screen life or assume every kind of damage is covered.
Repeatable setup: decide where the mat, ball and movable accessories return each time. Small changes in the hitting position can affect an overhead monitor’s setup even if the screen deploys to the same place.
Who should buy it?
The strongest buyer has a real shared-space requirement, suitable mounting support and a realistic storage plan for the remaining equipment. A garage owner who can park only after clearing the screen area has a clear use for retraction.
A dedicated golf-room owner may reasonably prefer a fixed enclosure. Someone with no place to store the mat or a door mechanism crossing the screen’s travel path should resolve those issues before ordering HomeCourse.
Does the screen turn the whole simulator wireless?
No. The screen’s battery and remote are separate from the projector, PC and launch monitor. Those devices retain their own power and data requirements.
Does it include a projector or launch monitor?
No. Treat it as the screen/enclosure part of the system. The electronics and hitting surface must be selected separately.
Is the manufacturer’s minimum room example enough for every player?
No. Product dimensions and mounting examples do not establish clearance for every golfer, club and swing. Verify the actual room and equipment arrangement using the current instructions.
Buy the ProScreen 180 when the complete storage routine gives you a usable room in both states. Choose your mounting route and accessories before checkout, and use our installation resources for model-specific setup guidance.
