HomeCourse ProScreen 180 is a lower-priced retractable starting point; SportScreen Vanish deserves consideration when its enclosure architecture and included panels better match your room. Compare a named Vanish size and operating mechanism. A hand-crank starting price is not the price of the remote-control version.
For this guide, the comparator is Vanish 11, Remote Control, SKU SP511-P from the Vanish Series. It is not Vanish LITE, a basic sports screen or a different-width Vanish package. This is a document-based buying comparison, not a side-by-side installation test.
The hardware you are actually comparing
| Purchase factor | HomeCourse ProScreen 180 | Vanish 11 Remote Control |
|---|---|---|
| Screen arrangement | Retractable screen with configurable Pro Arms | Retractable enclosure with dedicated side and ceiling panels |
| Operation | Battery-powered screen with remote | Motorized remote-control version; manufacturer specifies 110V power |
| Included mounting approach | Ceiling kit; wall kit is an extra purchase | Listed wall/ceiling brackets and assembly hardware |
| Projection planning | Central tall area or wider arm configuration; measure usable area | Manufacturer identifies Vanish 11 as a 4:3 configuration |
| Electronics | Monitor, PC, projector and software separate | Monitor, PC, projector and software separate |
SportScreen lists a rear support/blackout membrane, impact screen, side screens, ceiling panel and baffles in the Vanish Series contents. HomeCourse uses a different screen-and-arm arrangement. Do not treat those assemblies as identical just because both retract.
Compare remote-control prices, not “from” prices
Our HomeCourse ProScreen 180 is $2,299. The identified US retailer listing for Vanish 11 / Remote Control shows $4,499.99. That produces a $2,200.99 screen-system price difference on the checked date.
For a HomeCourse wall installation, add the $125 wall kit, taking that screen-and-mount subtotal to $2,424. The comparison gap becomes $2,075.99 before other accessories and installation. This adjustment matters because the Vanish listing includes wall/ceiling brackets while the HomeCourse ceiling route and wall route are different purchases.
These figures come from different sellers and are not a price-match promise. Confirm current US pricing, availability, delivery, installation and the exact contents of both quotes. The Vanish Series headline price shown for a smaller hand-crank variant should not replace the named Remote Control price in your comparison.
What a complete retractable quote should specify
Ask for the model, width, mechanism and any height-adaptation parts in writing. Then identify the impact screen, rear layer, side coverage, overhead coverage, baffles, mounting hardware and power arrangement.
Add the hitting mat and landing-floor treatment as separate lines unless the selected seller’s package explicitly includes them. Neither screen-system comparison here includes a functioning simulator’s electronics. A quoted “enclosure” should not silently become a “complete simulator” in your budget.
Finally, price the work required by your building: support structure, electrical supply, installation and access. A lower equipment price can be offset by a difficult mounting route; a higher equipment price does not prove the installation will be simpler.
Which retraction routine fits your room?
HomeCourse uses a rechargeable screen mechanism, so plan access for charging and preserve the screen’s movement path. The remaining simulator equipment still has its own power and storage requirements.
For the motorized Vanish, account for its required power connection and the installed travel envelope. Review the current Vanish Series manual for the selected size. Do not borrow a Vanish LITE diagram because its product name looks similar.
With either system, draw three states: ready to play, partly retracting and fully stored. The intermediate state matters around garage-door rails, lights, cabinets and other moving equipment. The final stored state matters for the car, doors and people using the room afterward.
Include the mat and protective restraints in the rehearsal. An enclosure that rolls up successfully may still leave a floor arrangement that is inconvenient to remove after every practice session.
Projection and protection must be evaluated together
HomeCourse’s arm position changes its usable presentation and side-protection arrangement. Choose the state first, then calculate the projector position and any additional coverage needed around the hitting station.
Vanish 11’s 4:3 presentation requires its own source and lens plan. A 16:9 projector does not automatically use its full raster to fill a 4:3 surface. Compare the active image and optical canvas before selecting a projector or reusing an existing ceiling position.
This guide does not rank the systems’ containment performance, impact noise or screen durability. Those comparisons would need equivalent installed conditions and testing. Follow the current manufacturer instructions for clearance and protection instead of inferring safety from price or fabric descriptions.
When each purchase is easier to justify
HomeCourse: you want a remote-controlled retractable screen at a lower equipment entry price, its arm configuration suits your layout, and you can complete the necessary mat, protection and storage plan. It is especially worth investigating when a straightforward ceiling installation is available.
Vanish 11 Remote Control: you specifically want the Vanish enclosure arrangement and its included layers, panels and baffles, and your room fits the selected model’s current requirements. The additional price should purchase features you intend to use, not merely a larger-sounding product name.
Is the Vanish hand-crank model a fair price comparison?
It is fair only if you are willing to choose manual operation. If remote operation is a requirement, use the Remote Control variant’s price and contents throughout the comparison.
Can I use the same projector with either enclosure?
Possibly, but the required image shape, usable area and lens location need checking separately. Reusing the projector is different from reusing its current mount position.
Does HomeCourse’s lower price mean I should ignore Vanish?
No. Compare the installed scope and daily routine. A different enclosure architecture may justify its cost in a particular room; the price gap alone does not establish suitability.
Start with the HomeCourse product and selected accessories, then compare the resulting written order with a quote explicitly naming Vanish 11 Remote Control SP511-P. Keep the mat, electronics and installation exclusions visible on both sides.
