Optoma GT2000HDR vs ZH450ST vs UHZ35ST for Golf

Compare Optoma GT2000HDR, ZH450ST and UHZ35ST for golf: 1080p or 4K, rated brightness, close lens placement and an upgrade checklist.

Choose the GT2000HDR for a 1080p shortlist, the ZH450ST when you want more rated light output within this close-throw 1080p group, or the UHZ35ST when 4K display resolution is the priority. All three require a physical installation check; none should be ordered solely because the words “short throw” appear in the name.

What changes between these three projectors?

Model Display resolution Rated brightness Throw ratio Buying question
GT2000HDR 1920 × 1080 3,500 lumens 0.496:1 Is 1080p enough for this screen and viewing distance?
ZH450ST 1920 × 1080 4,200 lumens 0.496:1 Is extra rated output worth the current price difference?
UHZ35ST 3840 × 2160 3,500 lumens 0.496:1 Will the PC actually render the simulator at 4K?

The manufacturer's brightness figures help identify the intended trade-off. They do not establish an independently tested brightness ranking in a calibrated golf mode. In particular, the two 3,500-lumen figures do not prove identical color or contrast on an impact screen.

GT2000HDR vs ZH450ST: a light-output decision

These are both 1080p projectors with the same published throw ratio. On paper, ZH450ST adds 700 lumens, a 20% increase over 3,500. That arithmetic describes the ratings; it does not mean every image will look 20% brighter.

For a garage bay with controllable lighting, first keep lights away from the screen and block daylight falling directly on it. For a wider screen or a room where some lights must remain on, the higher-rated option deserves a closer look. Ask for the expected picture mode and screen size, not just the brightest mode's specification.

Do not reuse a mount position without checking chassis dimensions, lens offset, ventilation and cable access. Equal throw ratios place the lens at a similar distance, but they do not make two projector bodies mechanically interchangeable.

GT2000HDR vs UHZ35ST: a resolution decision

GT2000HDR can accept compatible higher-resolution input while displaying a 1080p image. UHZ35ST's 4K display output is the relevant distinction for a resolution upgrade. Input compatibility and output resolution should be separate lines on your checklist.

A 3840 × 2160 frame contains four times the pixels of 1920 × 1080. Your computer must render those pixels, the cable path must carry the intended signal, and your simulation software must support the desired settings. Buying the projector alone does not create a complete 4K system.

If you already own a 1080p setup, inspect your graphics card and the resolution reported by Windows before comparing the hardware prices. The 1080p vs 4K golf projector guide explains that wider upgrade decision.

ZH450ST vs UHZ35ST: brightness rating or finer detail?

This is the meaningful fork for a buyer who can mount either model: higher rated 1080p light output or a 4K image at a lower stated lumen figure. A darkened room with a capable PC makes resolution easier to prioritize. A brighter room may justify choosing the 1080p model and spending the remaining budget on screen shading or a better lighting layout.

We have not tested these models side by side and do not assign an accuracy-style score to picture quality. Compare the exact installed image, picture mode and screen material if you can arrange a demonstration.

Work the mounting distance before ordering

At the published 0.496 ratio, a ten-foot-wide native 16:9 image puts the lens approximately 4.96 feet from the screen. At twelve feet wide, it becomes 5.95 feet. Measure from the lens, not from the rear of the case. Check the manufacturer's permitted image-size range as well as the distance.

Those examples are not universal dimensions for square enclosures. A 16:9 image ten feet wide is 5.625 feet high, so a taller screen needs a deliberate plan for unused area, cropping or the software's supported aspect ratio. A screen that physically fits the wall can still be a poor match for the projected image.

Make the quote comparable

Price the projector, compatible mount, cable run and any PC upgrade as one system. Then document the actual image width, mounting position, ambient-light conditions and output resolution. Use the three product links above for current offers and send those four room details with your question. The resulting recommendation can address your bay rather than an abstract spec-sheet winner.
