Separate ceiling-mounted iO planning from Trackman 4 radar placement, then verify tracking before adding cameras and displays.
iO and Trackman 4 do not share one room diagram
Trackman iO is a ceiling-mounted indoor system. Trackman 4 has a different hardware arrangement and indoor measurement geometry. Start with the model-specific setup material in the Trackman Help Center, not a generic room-size recommendation or an installation video for the other device.
A room can be large enough to swing in and still be wrong for a sensor or projector. Check player clearance, the sensor’s required placement, ball flight space and projection independently.
Establish a measured room plan
Record the finished floor and mat height, tee position, screen plane and available ceiling structure. For iO, compare the ceiling-mount arrangement and model-specific installation requirements. For Trackman 4, use its indoor placement and ball requirements. Do not replace a manufacturer’s minimum or diagram with another owner’s reported setup.
If both left- and right-handed golfers will use the room, check the actual stance positions and usable hitting zone before drilling. A ceiling installation does not itself prove that every position on the mat will be tracked.
Bring the system online in layers
- Confirm power and the specified data connection.
- Use the current Trackman software and model-specific setup or alignment process.
- Establish successful tracking in the intended indoor environment.
- Confirm the software license and features associated with the account and hardware.
- Add the projector, control screen and optional USB swing camera after the basic tracking path works.
For an existing system, write down the working versions and setup before an update. If a change causes a fault, that baseline helps support identify what changed.
Diagnose the failed layer
If software cannot find the unit, investigate the device connection first. If it finds the unit but shots are missed, revisit indoor placement, alignment and the documented ball/lighting conditions. If tracking works but the picture fails, troubleshoot the PC-to-projector path separately.
If a USB camera is the only problem, preserve the working launch-monitor setup and test the camera’s documented port and application requirements. A camera accessory is not the same as the tracking hardware in the launch monitor.
Prepare a useful support request
Include iO or Trackman 4 explicitly, the app version, connection type, a measured room sketch and whether a shot is captured before the failure occurs. For a mount question, include photos of the mounting structure and hardware. We can help coordinate the next step without guessing from the phrase “Trackman setup.”
