The Epson L695SE reaches a large image from closer to the screen; the L795SE provides more rated brightness and a longer, wider optical throw range. They are both short throw projectors, but that label hides a substantial installation difference.
For a 12-foot-wide native image, the L695SE's published ratio gives a planning range of 6.0–8.4 feet. The L795SE's gives 9.48–16.32 feet. If your mount location is fixed, that difference is likely to matter more than choosing 6,000 or 7,000 lumens.
Specifications that separate them
| Detail | Epson L695SE | Epson L795SE |
|---|---|---|
| Published color and white brightness | 6,000 lumens | 7,000 lumens |
| Imaging | 3LCD, WUXGA with 4K Enhancement | 3LCD, WUXGA with 4K Enhancement |
| Native panel format | 1920 × 1200, 16:10 | 1920 × 1200, 16:10 |
| Optical throw range | 0.5–0.7:1 | 0.79–1.36:1 |
| Main installation distinction | Closer lens position | More distance and zoom flexibility |
Use the US PowerLite specification sheet for the exact model you are buying. Similar regional model names and nearby L-series numbers are easy to confuse when comparing listings.
Three image widths, two mounting strategies
The following table multiplies native 16:10 image width by the published throw ratio. It is a first-pass optical calculation, not a final installation drawing.
| Native image width | L695SE estimated lens distance | L795SE estimated lens distance |
|---|---|---|
| 10 ft | 5.00–7.00 ft | 7.90–13.60 ft |
| 12 ft | 6.00–8.40 ft | 9.48–16.32 ft |
| 14 ft | 7.00–9.80 ft | 11.06–19.04 ft |
A 12-foot-wide 16:10 image is 7.5 feet tall. If your screen has another shape, first work out how the input will use the native frame. Do not simply reuse these distances for every full-height cropped or letterboxed arrangement.
With an 8-foot available lens distance and a 12-foot native image, the L695SE range includes the position; the L795SE range does not. At 12 feet, the L795SE range includes it. Lens shift cannot change which distance range produces the required width.
What 4K Enhancement means for the purchase
Epson describes these models as WUXGA projectors with 4K Enhancement. Their US sheets specify approximately 4.6 million displayed pixels through the enhancement system. That is different from a projector specified to display an 8.3-million-pixel 3840 × 2160 image.
They can accept 4K content, but accepting a 4K signal is not the same specification as displaying every pixel of that signal one-for-one. A buyer comparing these models with a BenQ or Optoma 4K UHD model should keep those categories separate.
This does not by itself decide which image you will prefer. Screen size, viewing position, room lighting and image processing matter. It does prevent paying for a feature based on an incorrect assumption about the word “4K.”
How much does the brightness increase help?
Seven thousand versus six thousand lumens is a 16.7% increase in rated output. It is not a guarantee of a 16.7% improvement in perceived contrast or detail. Light on the screen raises the black level, and increasing image area spreads the available light over more surface.
If your current problem is sunlight washing across the impact screen, plan light control first. If you need a larger image in the same lighting conditions, compare its area as well as the projector rating. Ask for a demonstration under conditions that resemble the intended room whenever that is available.
Which installation favors each Epson?
The Epson L695SE deserves a place on the shortlist when the projector needs to remain near the screen and the 0.5–0.7 range fits your layout. It can be useful where a farther-back unit would conflict with the golfer or other ceiling equipment.
The Epson L795SE deserves consideration when the available mount is farther back, its broad zoom range solves a placement constraint, and the extra published brightness is useful. The long end of its range can be valuable in larger rooms, but it should not be mistaken for an advantage in every compact room.
Specify the room as one system
Put the screen plane, finished floor height, hitting point, overhead sensor and projector on the same layout. Confirm mount capacity, ventilation, access to focus and the cable route. Use the manufacturer's complete lens-shift limits when calculating image height rather than treating shift percentages independently.
For a commercial bay, add access for cleaning, inspection and eventual component replacement. A projector that is physically reachable without dismantling the enclosure can be easier to maintain than an otherwise suitable model trapped above fixed panels.
Plan your next step
Compare Epson L695SE and Epson L795SE using your image width and usable lens position. Check the screen aspect-ratio guide if your enclosure is not 16:10.
