The SIG10 adds 30 inches of outside width over the SIG8 while keeping the same listed height and depth. That makes this a width-and-image decision, not a way to gain ceiling clearance.
The SIG8 has a square screen. The SIG10 has a wider screen described as 4:3. Choose between them by the room's usable width, the players' swing space and the image format you intend to project.
Put the dimensions side by side
| Measurement | SIG8 | SIG10 |
|---|---|---|
| Outside width | 8 ft 4 in | 10 ft 10 in |
| Outside height | 8 ft 4 in | 8 ft 4 in |
| Enclosure depth | 5 ft | 5 ft |
| Listed screen width | 7 ft 7 in | 10 ft 1 in |
| Listed screen height | 7 ft 7 in | 7 ft 7 in |
| Screen shape | 1:1 square | Approximately 4:3 |
Use the current specification for the exact screen and enclosure option ordered. The enclosure depth is not the total room depth needed for the golfer, monitor and safe screen clearance.
What happens in a 12-foot-wide room?
A 12-foot room is 144 inches wide. The SIG8's 100-inch outside width leaves 44 inches in total, or 22 inches on each side if centered. The SIG10's 130-inch width leaves 14 inches in total, or seven inches on each side.
Those are arithmetic residuals, not recommended safety clearances. They do not account for baseboards, trim, storage, uneven walls or access needed during assembly. They also say nothing about whether a golfer's swing clears the room outside the enclosure.
This example shows why the larger screen can be attractive while the smaller frame may be easier to live with. If the seven-inch side spaces cannot accommodate required assembly or access, the larger model is not the better fit merely because its frame can be squeezed into the room.
The screen area increases by about one third
Using the listed screen dimensions, the SIG8 has roughly 57.5 square feet of screen area. The SIG10 has roughly 76.5 square feet, approximately 33% more. Both are the same listed height; the increase comes from width.
That wider surface may provide a more natural layout for a 4:3 golf image, but it spreads projected light over more area when you fill it. Do not assume the same projector setup produces the same brightness per unit of screen area after the enclosure upgrade.
A wider enclosure does not always require more throw distance
Here is the less obvious part. If you use a native 16:9 projector and fill the same 7-foot-7-inch screen height, the underlying native frame height is the same for both enclosures. Its width is about 13.48 feet before the unused sides are handled by the image arrangement.
In that full-height planning case, the required optical frame can be the same even though one visible screen is square and the other is wider. Conversely, a width-fitted 16:9 image will use different heights and distances in the two enclosures. You must specify the chosen image arrangement before comparing projector positions.
Our aspect-ratio guide explains these tradeoffs. Test the source resolution and projector settings before locking the mount location.
When to choose the SIG8
The SIG8 is worth considering when enclosure width is the limiting factor and you are comfortable with a square screen arrangement. It can leave more space around the frame for access or other room uses.
It does not make an otherwise unsuitable low ceiling suitable for golf. Check the complete swing above the finished mat and any floor buildup. Likewise, make sure the launch monitor works with the intended ball position and available distance; the smaller enclosure does not shorten every monitor's requirements.
When to choose the SIG10
The SIG10 is attractive when the additional width fits with the required clearances and you want a wider image at the same screen height. For a room dedicated to golf, the larger image can be a worthwhile use of space.
If you intend to support both right- and left-handed players, assess the full room around a common hitting point. Enclosure width alone does not establish a workable mixed-handed layout. A floor-mounted monitor may also need repositioning, whereas a compatible overhead arrangement can change that workflow.
Check the exact scope of the selected package
Compare the screen material and included frame, surround, attachment hardware and protective parts. Flooring, launch monitor, projector and computer should be listed separately unless your chosen package explicitly includes them.
Take the outside dimensions, visible screen dimensions and planned hitting point into the same purchase discussion. That makes it possible to choose the enclosure, projector and monitor as a compatible room rather than as three unrelated upgrades.
With the outside frame and hitting position checked, compare SIG8 and SIG10 in the Simulator Builder. Review the projector’s image shape and the mat layout with the selected enclosure, then save the complete component list.
