Project Library · Reference design

A SIG10 reference layout that places the VTrack mounting reference ahead of the ball and reserves a separate ceiling position for the AK700ST lens. The shopping list specifies a white screen, 4K projector and centered hitting mat.

Proposed design by Indoor Golf Kit. This is not a customer installation or an on-site fit certification.

The decision to resolve first

A 12 ft room is only 14 inches wider than the enclosure. Confirm the swing first; a centered mat alone does not prove left- and right-handed clearance.

Dimension Value and basis
Viewable screen used for this plan 121 in wide × 91 in high
Outer frame (W × H) 130 × 100 in
Native 16:9 optical width at that height 91 × 16 ÷ 9 = 161.78 in
Optical throw ratio 0.69–0.83
Calculated lens-to-screen range 111.63 in–134.28 in
Example lens reference 132.00 in = 11.00 ft
Ball line → rear wall 8 ft 6 in
Frame → side wall, centered 7 in per side; not a walkway approval
VTrack vertical reference from its hardware guide 2,600–3,000 mm ground to sensor underside; 2,700–3,100 mm ceiling reference for its mounting table. Account for the installed hitting-surface height.

Room dimensions, screen setback, ball position and example lens position are design assumptions. Frame/screen measurements and optical ratios come from the sources below. Optical distances are lens-to-screen; they do not specify the mounting screw location. For square or 4:3 playing images, the native 16:9 optical frame extends beyond the active width. Set the source image and masking accordingly.

Why this layout is arranged this way

Two devices, two ceiling references

This project uses a 10-foot ball-to-screen reference and an 11-foot lens-to-screen example. The VTrack bracket is located using its height-dependent installation table, ahead of the hitting-area center; it is not installed at the projector lens mark. At approximately a 3,050 mm ceiling reference, the manual gives a 930 mm forward bracket reference. Treat that as a planning illustration, then use the exact measured height and delivered hardware instructions for the installation.

Why the lens example is 11 feet

Filling the screen’s 91-inch height produces a native 16:9 optical frame 161.78 inches wide. The AK700ST’s 0.69–0.83 ratio gives a lens range of about 111.63–134.28 inches. A 132-inch example falls inside that range and separates the projector from the forward monitor reference. The projector body, mount drop, ventilation and beam still need a side-elevation check. Zoom flexibility is useful here; it does not make any point on the ceiling acceptable.

The frame is not the hitting clearance

The 130-inch-wide SIG10 frame leaves 7 inches on either side in this 144-inch room. Keep those edges available for assembly and do not draw a passage through them. The 4 × 9 ft mat leaves 18 inches of floor width on each side, but the golfer and club extend beyond the mat. If two people with different handedness will use the room, test both swings at the same calibrated hitting position before committing to this width.

Make the computer decision before the wiring

VTrack hardware readiness and 4K course rendering are separate requirements. Select your simulation software and desired display settings, then size the Windows computer for that workload. The manufacturer’s hardware guide includes specific Ethernet adapter requirements; do not assume any USB-to-Ethernet adapter is equivalent. Keep the monitor data path, projector HDMI run and power drops accessible until the first reliable tracked shot and projected desktop have both been verified.

What changes if you shorten the room

The reference screen setback is 18 inches. With the ball 10 feet from the screen, 8 ft 6 in remains to the rear wall. Reducing depth first reduces that rear allowance; it does not change the optical distance needed for the same image height. A door swing, desk or sofa in that area must be drawn separately. Do not preserve this shopping list by quietly moving the VTrack hitting position or shrinking the screen without recalculating the plan.

Resolve these checks before ordering

  1. Confirm finished height, actual VTrack mounting reference and unobstructed camera view.
  2. Mock up the 132-inch lens mark with the full projector and mount envelope.
  3. Test every intended golfer from the final hitting surface.
  4. Choose the software license and 4K-capable PC, then verify the complete signal route.

Keep a measured room sketch with door openings, ceiling obstructions, floor build-up and the complete swing path. A room that contains the equipment rectangles may still be unsuitable for the intended golfer or installation.

The tools open separately. Enter your own measurements and verify their model assumptions; this reference design is not automatically loaded.
