Plan the projector video cable, VTrack data connection and PC internet connection as separate routes. Then check those routes against the screen’s impact area, any moving parts and the final floor height. A useful wiring plan identifies both ends of every cable and how each end remains accessible after installation.
What goes on the plan before you buy cables?
Place the PC, BenQ lens, VTrack mounting point and final ball position on the same room drawing. Mark the screen at its playing position. For HomeCourse, also mark its stored position and the space used by the arms. These are equipment locations, not cable lengths.
Measure the intended cable route along the ceiling, wall or approved pathway, including the drop to each connector. A straight line across the room will miss turns and access points. Record where a connector must pass through a panel or conduit and where a person can reach it for replacement. Have the installer specify permanent power points and suitable cable pathways for the room.
Finish optical placement with the BenQ setup guide and overhead placement with the VTrack installation guide. A convenient outlet location does not determine the correct lens or tracking position.
Build a cable schedule with separate jobs
| Route | Connect these endpoints | Prove this before concealing the route |
|---|---|---|
| Projector picture | The selected PC graphics output to the intended BenQ video input. Record any adapter or extender between them. | Run the actual resolution and refresh rate you intend to use through the complete cable assembly. Label any directional cable ends according to its instructions. |
| VTrack tracking data | VTrack Ethernet directly to a compatible PC network adapter. Keep this route identifiable at the PC. | Confirm connection and camera availability in VTrackToolKit. An internet speed test does not test this dedicated connection. |
| PC internet and local network | The PC’s separate Wi-Fi or other suitable network connection to the household network. | Verify downloads and any network-dependent features while the VTrack connection is also present. |
| Optional display or camera accessories | Each accessory to its specified PC port, with its required video, data and power connections. | Test the actual accessory. A working display image alone does not prove a touchscreen’s USB control connection. |
| HomeCourse charging access | The supplied or manufacturer-approved charging equipment to the matching screen connection. | Confirm access in the installed position and a cable route clear of screen movement. Keep charger identification with the plan. |
The VTrack setup instructions specify a direct Ethernet connection to the PC. Allocate the compatible adapter before finalizing the computer purchase. Do not plan the tracking cable around an ordinary router or switch, or assume a spare USB Ethernet adapter has the required settings. Exact adapter checks belong in the VTrack network guide.
For the BenQ connection, use the port diagram and supported-timing table for the exact model. A socket’s shape is not a complete connection plan. If your installation uses an extender, identify its transmitter, receiver, power needs and supported display mode as additional components.
How do Carl’s, SIG and HomeCourse change cable access?
| Equipment | Mark on the drawing | Access check |
|---|---|---|
| Carl’s Place DIY or Pro | The enclosure frame, impact fabric, optional crossbar and any equipment mount. | Keep connectors reachable without retensioning the screen. Trace the cable past fittings and fabric so assembly cannot trap it. |
| SIG8, SIG10 or SIG12 | The enclosure outline and the selected flooring footprint. | Resolve cable crossings before assembling the floor. A cable trapped under a panel joint can conceal a fault and interfere with the fit. |
| HomeCourse ProScreen 180 | The housing, deployed screen, arm movement and charging connection. | Inspect both stored and playing positions. Leave no cable hanging in the screen, netting or arm path. |
| Any overhead equipment | The ports, ventilation openings and route to the nearest service access point. | Make sure access to a plug does not require moving an aligned projector or calibrated launch monitor. |
Keep screen clearance and equipment mounting requirements in their own drawings. This plan checks access; it does not establish that a frame can carry an accessory or that a cable can be attached to any convenient part. Use the mount and accessory checks for that decision.
What should you test before the ceiling or wall is closed?
- Label the intended connections. For example, V1 can identify the PC-to-projector video route and N1 the VTrack-to-PC data route. Put the same label at both ends and in the schedule.
- Test the complete hardware chain while accessible. Use the selected PC output, intended cable, adapters and final projector input. Save the display mode and a photo of the working picture.
- Record the VTrack adapter separately. Save its model and the port used. Once the unit is installed and calibrated, confirm its own application can receive a shot before evaluating course-software delivery.
- Repeat after routing. Compare the same connection and settings. If a route fails only after installation, note what changed along that route before replacing unrelated equipment.
- Inspect the completed room. Check the cable at the PC, ceiling drops, enclosure edges and floor transitions. For HomeCourse, check that normal deployment and storage leave the route clear.
- Save an access photograph. Include the path before it is covered and the final location of each reachable connector. Record how a failed cable would be removed or replaced.
If the projector remains powered but loses its picture, use the No signal guide. If it powers down or shows warning indicators, use the BenQ shutdown guide. These observations lead to different checks.
Copy this handover record for your installer
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Route ID and purpose | V1 / projector picture; N1 / VTrack data; or your own consistent labels. |
| Start and end | Exact device, port label and accessible connector location at both ends. |
| Cable assembly | Manufacturer, part number, length, adapters, extension components and any required direction. |
| Installation route | Measured path, access points, visible drops and photographs before closure. |
| Verified operating state | Display mode for video; device connection state for tracking; date and result of the installed-route test. |
| Change record | Anything substituted after testing and whether the final assembly was retested. |
Before ordering, send this plan with your chosen BenQ model, VTrack and screen configuration to Indoor Golf Kit. Identify any missing cable, adapter or mount as a separate order item instead of assuming every enclosure package includes it.
